TRADEOFF PRIVACY POLICY

This Privacy Policy describes how TradeOff collects, uses, and shares information when you use the app. TradeOff is currently available in Texas, Florida, Nevada, Wyoming, South Dakota, Tennessee, Idaho, and Montana only.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect the following categories of information:

Account & Profile Data
  • Name, email address, trade, years of experience, expertise areas, bio, license information (if voluntarily provided), profile photo URL

Location Data
  • Approximate or precise location (based on your privacy settings). Precise location is only shared if you enable it.

Activity Data
  • Trade requests posted, reviews given and received, messages sent, items listed, barter matches, ad views, subscription tier

Device & Technical Data
  • Device identifiers, FCM push notification tokens, crash logs (via Firebase Crashlytics), performance traces (via Firebase Performance)

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use collected information to:
  • Operate and improve the TradeOff platform
  • Match tradespeople based on trade, location, and reputation
  • Send push notifications about matches, messages, and reviews
  • Calculate and display Trust Scores and reputation metrics
  • Investigate safety reports and enforce the Safe Work Agreement
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do NOT sell your personal information to third parties.

3. INFORMATION SHARING

We may share your information with:
  • Other TradeOff users — your name, trade, general area (or precise location if enabled), rating, and profile information are visible to other signed-in users
  • Firebase / Google — for database, authentication, analytics, and crash reporting (see Google's Privacy Policy)
  • Google Play Billing — for processing in-app purchases (see Google's Privacy Policy)
  • Law enforcement — when required by applicable law or to protect safety

4. DATA RETENTION

We retain account and profile data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at support@jointradeoff.com. Some data may be retained for legal compliance, dispute resolution, or fraud prevention.

5. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your information
  • Opt out of certain data uses

TradeOff currently serves users in Texas, Florida, Nevada, Wyoming, South Dakota, Tennessee, Idaho, and Montana.

State Privacy Laws: As of May 2026, the comprehensive state consumer privacy laws in effect in TradeOff's operating states — including the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA, effective July 1, 2024), the Montana Consumer Data Privacy Act (MCDPA, effective October 1, 2024), and the Tennessee Information Protection Act (TIPA, effective July 1, 2025) — apply only to businesses that process personal data of 100,000 or more consumers per year (or 25,000 consumers if the business derives revenue from selling that data). TradeOff does not currently meet these thresholds. TradeOff does not sell personal information.

Regardless of applicable state law thresholds, all users may exercise the following rights at any time by contacting privacy@jointradeoff.com:
  • Right to access the personal data TradeOff holds about you
  • Right to correct inaccurate data
  • Right to request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Right to opt out of non-essential data processing

TradeOff will respond to data requests within 45 days.

6. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

TradeOff is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

7. SECURITY

We use industry-standard measures including Firebase security rules, encrypted authentication, and access controls to protect your data. No system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
